Software Engineer II - Java​/J2EE

This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the job include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non‑functional and compliance requirements, coding solutions, unit testing, and ensuring the solution can be integrated successfully into the overall application/system with clear, robust, and well‑tested interfaces. Job expectations include an awareness of development and testing practices in the industry.

This is a Full‑stack Software Development Engineer role in Bank of America Erica, Chat and Voice Technology team. The team builds next‑generation AI and Search platforms for the bank enabling banking assistants and search across multiple platforms. This position requires the candidate to be well‑versed with client side and server side technologies. The candidate must possess passion for producing high quality software, be ready to jump in and solve complex problems, and perform code reviews.

The candidate is expected to write unit and integration tests and should be familiar with performing hybrid engineering tasks within the agile team.

• Code solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements
• Utilize multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements
• Perform Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI‑CD) activities
• Contribute to story refinement and definition of requirements
• Participate in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle
• Contribute to existing test suites (integration, regression, performance), analyze test reports, identify any test issues/errors, and triage the underlying cause
• Perform spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas

• 5+ years of hands‑on software development experience using Java/J2EE technologies
• Good interpersonal communication skills for tech and business conversations
• Good analytical skills to break down requirements and solve complex problems

• Experience working on high volume applications
• Experience in server side frameworks like Spring MVC
• Experience building restful web services
• Experience in performance tuning with good understanding of JVM internals
