Software Engineer

Broadcom provides IT management solutions that help customers manage and secure complex IT environments to support agile business services. The Datacom development team in Plano, Texas develops a leading database product for IBM mainframes, designed for large, mission‑critical workloads.

As part of the Datacom team, you will work on a high‑performance relational database built for reliability and 24x7 availability, integrating with modern applications, business intelligence, web services, and cloud environments using JDBC and ODBC connections.

You are a self‑motivated team player with a strong computer science background. You are dynamic, adaptable, and open to learning new tools and technologies. You have a desire to collaborate with like‑minded colleagues and contribute to innovative, world‑class IT solutions.

• Research and develop innovative solutions that shape the future direction of Broadcom products.
• Work within a scrum team in an agile development environment and collaborate across roles.
• Design and code enterprise‑level functionality that meets business requirements.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, test plan reviews, and develop automated test scripts to deliver high‑quality software.

• Minimum five years of software development experience.
• BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent engineering degree.
• Prior experience as a developer in a Scrum team.
• Proficiency in IBM Assembler on z/OS, z/OS Language Environment (LE), and system‑level functions such as SVCs and PC calls.
• Experience with Source Code Management tools such as Endevor and Git Hub.
• Ability and openness to learn new technologies and languages.
• Additional experience (beneficial) with zOS system components (JCL, ISPF, CICS, CLIST, PL/1), mainframe databases (Datacom, IDMS, DB2), and languages (Metal C, COBOL, REXX, C, C++).
• Experience with test automation, Jenkins, Python, CI/CD automation, Blackduck, Coverity, zACS tools, and reading system dumps.

The annual base salary range is USD
91,100.00 to USD. Eligible employees may receive a discretionary annual bonus, new‑hire equity grants, and annual equity awards.
