Job Description Summary
Position:
Class A Delivery Driver (Equipment Rental)
- Deliver and recover equipment at the customer site.
- Load, unload, and secure the equipment.
- Transport equipment and supplies locally or over long distances.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and minor repairs on malfunctioning equipment at the jobsite.
- Conduct daily commercial vehicle inspections and complete necessary repairs to ensure operational safety.
- Demonstrate and adhere to Customer Service Standards for delivery service.
- Obtain required signatures on rental contracts, pickup and exchange forms.
- Explain proper and safe equipment usage to customers at the point of delivery.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the manager or authorized personnel.
- Complete inspection reports, log books, and trip sheets in accordance with D.O.T. and company record‑keeping requirements.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Proficient in reading, writing, and effective communication.
- Valid Driver’s license with Class A CDL certification and DOT Physical Examination (Medical card).
- Working knowledge of Motor Carrier Safety regulations and DOT guidelines.
- Familiarity with local major and minor roadways and ability to use maps and directions efficiently for delivery routing.
- Experience driving delivery trucks, towing tandem‑axle utility trailers, and towable construction equipment within high‑traffic or congested city zones and small areas.
- Prior training or experience with similar commercial equipment (preferred).
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, employees, or community members.
- Ability to present information effectively to upper management.
- Competence in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division across all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Reasoning ability: define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Two years of over‑the‑road experience operating combination commercial vehicles (preferred).
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Maintain a safe driving record and demonstrate defensive driving techniques to protect equipment and other drivers.
- High level of safety awareness on the roadways.
- Positive “Can Do” attitude and willingness to exceed customer expectations.
- Mechanical ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on equipment and vehicle.
- Experience operating heavy construction machinery within the rental industry and understanding of load securement and transport.
Base Pay Range: $27.07 – $40.59 per hour (starting rate may vary by location, education, training, and experience).
