Shuttle Bus Driver

As a Temporary Shuttle Bus Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting students between Plano ISD campuses and other District-approved locations. Routes and assignments may change based on campus construction, student schedules, and District transportation needs.
The Shuttle Bus Driver is responsible for operating the assigned District bus in a safe and professional manner, following assigned routes and schedules, completing required vehicle safety inspections, and maintaining a safe environment for all student passengers.
License Requirements- Possess and maintain a valid Texas Commercial Driver License (CDL) appropriate for the assigned bus.
- Possess and maintain the required School Bus (S) endorsement
, as applicable to the assigned school bus. - Candidates who do not currently possess the required CDL and endorsements may be eligible to participate in Plano ISD-sponsored CDL training
, subject to District requirements and availability. - Candidates participating in District-sponsored CDL training must successfully obtain the required CDL classification and endorsements before independently operating a vehicle for which the CDL is required.
- Maintain a driving record that meets Plano ISD insurance and driver qualification requirements
. - Successfully pass and maintain a DOT-required medical examination/medical certification
, as applicable to the assigned vehicle and CDL operation. - Successfully complete all required Plano ISD transportation, school bus driver, safety, and other applicable training.
- Meet all applicable Texas Education Agency (TEA), Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), and Plano ISD requirements for operating a school bus
- Safely transport students between assigned Plano ISD campuses and designated locations.
- Follow assigned routes, schedules, and transportation procedures.
- Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Report vehicle defects, maintenance concerns, accidents, injuries, or other safety concerns promptly.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and respectful environment for student passengers.
- Follow all applicable traffic laws and District transportation policies.
- Exercise sound judgment when responding to traffic, weather, passenger, or emergency situations.
- Complete required transportation logs, reports, inspections, and other documentation.
- Maintain regular and dependable attendance for scheduled assignments.
- Attend required District training and meetings.
- Previous school bus, shuttle bus, or commercial passenger-vehicle driving experience.
- Familiarity with the Plano ISD campus environment.
- Knowledge of safe passenger transportation practices.
- Ability to work flexible, temporary, and as-needed assignments.
