Pay Rate:

The pay rate for this job is $15 - $15 / hour*

What you'll be doing as a Steel Yard Laborer:

• Cut steel pipe and other metal materials to specified lengths and dimensions according to work orders and customer requirements
• Safely operate power tools and equipment, including saws, grinders, cutting tools, and other handheld equipment
• Read and accurately use a tape measure to measure, mark, and verify material dimensions
• Load, unload, transport, and stage steel pipe and other materials throughout the facility
• Operate forklifts, including rough-terrain forklifts, to safely move long and oversized materials
• Secure and balance long steel products during transport to prevent damage and safety hazards
• Perform quality inspections to ensure materials meet specifications and production standards
• Follow all workplace safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and efficiency
• Assist with inventory organization, material identification, and stock movement as needed
• Conduct pre-shift inspections of forklifts and equipment and report any maintenance or safety concerns
• Work effectively with team members and supervisors to meet production and shipping deadlines
• Follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to company policies and procedures

Job requirements:

• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for employment with People Ready
• Updated resume required
• Must complete and sign the K&K Enterprise Background Authorization Form
• Must successfully complete a two-part interview process
• Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure
• Previous experience using power tools is preferred
• Forklift operation experience is required; experience moving long materials is a plus
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50+ pounds on a regular basis
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and work in a physically demanding environment throughout the shift
• Strong commitment to safety, attendance, and quality workmanship
• Background check and drug test required
