Job Description

The Chemist supports the Research & Development (R&D) department through precise chemical testing, sample analysis, and thorough data documentation. This role focuses on routine laboratory work, including sample preparation, instrumental analysis, and report writing, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail. The Chemist operates and maintains advanced analytical instruments, interprets complex data, and follows established testing protocols and safety procedures to deliver reliable results that inform technical decisions.

Responsibilities

+ Prepare, handle, and label chemical samples with accuracy, maintaining clear and organized documentation.

+ Perform analytical testing using a range of laboratory instruments, including ICP-OES, Ion Chromatography, SEM-EDS, and Infrared Spectroscopy (IR).

+ Conduct standard wet chemistry techniques for both quantitative and qualitative analysis.

+ Carry out elemental analysis and material characterization to identify unknown deposits and other sample types.

+ Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot analytical instruments to ensure reliable performance and data integrity.

+ Record experimental data clearly and thoroughly in laboratory notebooks and digital logs.

+ Compile and organize analytical findings into structured, detailed reports for review by senior technical staff.

+ Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), laboratory safety guidelines, and good laboratory practices (GLP) at all times.

+ Communicate findings, anomalies, and technical issues effectively with the R&D team and contribute to collaborative problem-solving.

+ Perform other related laboratory and documentation duties as assigned to support ongoing R&D projects.

Essential Skills

+

Demonstrated proficiency in analytical chemistry, including sample preparation, instrumental analysis, and data interpretation.

+ Background in analytical chemistry or a closely related discipline.

+ Ability to work collaboratively within an R&D team and communicate technical information clearly.

+ Strong organizational skills for managing multiple samples, tests, and documentation requirements.

+ Interest in long-term professional growth within a growing organization.

+ Comfort with routine laboratory work and repetitive testing while maintaining high quality standards.

+ Hands-on experience operating ICP-OES (Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy) instruments.

+ Practical experience with Ion Chromatography for separation and analysis of ionic species.

+ Experience using SEM-EDS (Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy) for material characterization.

+ Ability to perform Infrared Spectroscopy (IR) and interpret spectra for qualitative and quantitative analysis.

+ Strong attention to detail and consistency in performing tests and documenting results.

+ Ability to maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot analytical laboratory instruments.

+ Competence in conducting standard wet chemistry techniques for quantitative and qualitative analysis.

+ Skill in compiling clear, structured, and detailed technical reports based on analytical findings.

+ Commitment to following SOPs, laboratory safety guidelines, and good laboratory practices (GLP).

Work Environment

This role is based in a laboratory environment that supports active Research & Development activities. The Chemist works with advanced analytical technologies, including ICP-OES, Ion Chromatography, SEM-EDS, and Infrared Spectroscopy (IR), as well as standard wet chemistry equipment and tools. The position involves routine bench work, instrument operation, and computer-based data logging and report preparation. Work is performed in compliance with standard operating procedures, laboratory safety guidelines, and good laboratory practices, fostering a culture of precision, safety, and continuous improvement.
