Maintenance Technician

You will independently perform advanced refrigeration maintenance and repair throughout the warehouse to support operational objectives. Responsibilities include setting up and monitoring refrigeration equipment, troubleshooting systems, replacing components, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. You will also oversee contractors, participate in operational excellence initiatives, and assist in training less experienced technicians.

Essential functions include defining and setting up operational settings and parameters for all refrigeration equipment, monitoring system performance, troubleshooting refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, and control systems, replacing components within refrigeration systems following safe lockout/tagout procedures and safety program requirements, performing routine and complex maintenance and repairs on various warehouse equipment in accordance with OSHA standards, overseeing and inspecting work of internal and external technicians for compliance and quality control and assisting in training and development of less experienced technicians, maintaining accurate preventive and predictive maintenance records and participating in operational excellence initiatives.

What experience and education you need includes minimum 5 years of industrial refrigeration maintenance experience including ammonia refrigeration, high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required, completion of assigned industrial refrigeration and mechanical-electrical courses required, HAZMAT training and certification required, experience troubleshooting and repairing control systems such as ALTA and Allen Bradley and maintaining records within a Computerized Maintenance Management System.

What could set you apart includes experience working in a cold storage environment, RETA CIRO or CARO certifications, experience using Oracle Computerized Maintenance Management System, demonstrated experience performing root cause analysis and component-level diagnostics on industrial refrigeration systems, experience providing formal or informal technical training and mentorship to junior refrigeration technicians.

Physical requirements include being able to tolerate working environment with inside controlled temperatures of minus 45 degrees Fahrenheit and outside ambient temperatures (including heat, cold, and precipitation), able to work at heights in excess of 30 ft. and access elevated platforms, catwalks, and roofs, able to work in confined areas, able to climb ladders and stairs, able to stand, walk, push, pull, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and/or crouch, able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently, able to operate hand and power tools safely, able to meet specific vision abilities required by this job including close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception, depending on specific role, able to pass a physical and respiratory/respirator fit exam, able to frequently step up/on or step down/off to mount and dismount material handling equipment, able to perform fine articulation movements with fingers/hands and/or feet to operate equipment, able to wear personal protective equipment required for any/all tasks.
