To be the Retail Department expert in the merchandising, pricing, management, and sales of a certain
To be the department expert in their assigned categories and, with this depth knowledge, drive the acquisition, pricing, merchandising, marketing and promotions of the category's products in order to make them as visible, accessible, and appealing to customers as possible.
Key Responsibilities 1.) Range Building and Planning- a. Develop and agree plan in partnership with the Corporate Manager that achieves sales and profit targets and implement the agreed strategy.
- b. In conjunction with the Resort Shop Management, agree a framework with senior management within which a balanced, commercial and profitable range is built.
- c. Evaluate market and customer information together with historical data and forward trends to develop the department’s phased plans.
- d. Present the category range for review achieving senior management agreement.
- e. Create a range plan to optimize the allocated space and maximize sales and profit density.
- f. Manage product trialling activity with the merchandiser.
- g. Continuously monitor market activity, through regular competitor shop visits and gathering market intelligence from a wide variety of sources, in order to take appropriate commercial action.
- h. Agree and deliver promotional and marketing plans, in conjunction with the marketing manager, to optimize sales and profit.
- a. Monitor performance of category against plan, taking appropriate action to maximize sales and profit and reduce stock holding while increasing stock turn.
- b. Identify new business opportunities to grow sales and profitability.
- c. Review, propose and implement mark‑down activity to reduce stock holding while analyzing action taken on mark‑downs to maximize profit.
- d. Drive increase in margin through new sourcing strategies and methods to build profit.
- e. Communicate trading issues and forecasts with proposed actions to merchandiser and senior management.
- a. Plan availability schedule for all new product.
- b. Use range planning to determine discontinuation of any lines/vendors.
- c. Plan initial allocation of product including any display stocks.
- d. Set initial min/max levels for all new product.
- e. Ensuring commitment is managed in line with regional needs.
- f. Monitor and manage the availability of new stock by
- i. ensuring planned launch dates are met.
- ii. managing the allocation of new stock from suppliers.
- iii. Managing in-store stock levels to optimize distribution.
- g. Manage the set-up of display stock.
- a. Identify and regularly review potential suppliers and negotiate commercially viable contracts when appropriate.
- b. Build and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers.
- c. Contribute to future supplier strategies where appropriate.
- d. Measure product’s performance against agreed quality standards and take necessary action with suppliers.
- e. Negotiate for margin support, marketing contributions and vendor training when possible.
- a. Working with the Marketing Manager to develop timely and relevant promotions to increase sales or affect slow moving products.
- b. Arrange for, or provide, in-store training on new products.
- c. Arrange vendor factory visits for staff where appropriate.
- d. Collect or develop information cards for new products and distribute to retail team.
- e. Arrange for any vendor marketing collateral needed to support product launches.
- a. Ensure compliance with all Human Resources policies and procedures.
- b. Adhere to all requirements of the Sandals Employee Handbook.
- c. Ensure effective communication at all levels, to include communicating the departmental strategy in addition to operational priorities.
- d. Encourage an environment of open communication within the team and development of cross‑functional relationships.
- e. Monitor and maintain compliance at all times with health and safety requirements.
- f. To participate in projects and working parties, or to carry out any other duties that may be outside the standard remit, that will benefit the individual, the department or the Company as a whole.
