Position Summary:

The Mathematics Department at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for a full-time, 9-month Lecturer position beginning August 24, 2026.

Job Responsibilities:

* Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance

* Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction

* Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations

Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility will be to teach freshmen/sophomore level mathematics or statistics classes. The teaching assignments will be dependent on the qualifications, background, and experience of the successful candidate.

* A graduate degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or statistics is required.

* A strong commitment to teaching; preference will be given to those who present evidence of successful classroom teaching experiences for a minimum of one year in mathematics or statistics.

The Mathematics Department, in the College of Engineering, Mathematics, and Science, has 20 full-time tenure/tenure track positions, and regularly employs an additional 11-16 academic staff. The department offers undergraduate degrees in mathematics, mathematics education, and mathematics with an emphasis in either actuarial science, applied mathematics or finance. We also offer a B.S. degree in data science and a minor in applied statistics.

The College of Engineering, Mathematics, and Science (EMS) enrolls approximately 3,100 students in ABET-accredited BS degree programs in Civil, Electrical, Environmental, Industrial Systems, Mechanical and Software Engineering, and Engineering Physics and BS degrees in Mathematics, Data Science, Chemistry, Computer Science, and Sustainable and Renewable Energy Systems. The College of EMS also participates in a statewide Collaborative Engineering Program that allows place-bound undergraduate students to complete their BS degrees in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering with minimal travel.

In addition, the College has an online Master of Engineering program, which has been designated as a "Best Buy" in online education.

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville, founded in 1866, offers 47 baccalaureate and 10 master's programs.
