Non-Traditional and Military-Connected Student Retention Specialist
SummaryThe University of Wisconsin-Platteville is seeking a student-focused professional to serve as a resource for students, faculty, and staff while supporting student success initiatives within the Wright Center. Under the supervision of the Wright Center Coordinator, the Specialist oversees retention and transfer efforts for students who may be at risk of failing, withdrawing, or transferring to another institution or program. The position provides guidance, outreach, and support services designed to promote student persistence and academic success.
The Wright Center is committed to supporting military-connected students, veterans, and adult learners. This full‑time, benefit-eligible role offers an annual salary of $46,000.
- Partner with academic advisors, faculty, staff, students, and administrative personnel to identify risk indicators and support data-informed retention and transfer strategies.
- Monitor and support student academic progress through outreach, individualized success planning, and student-focused programming.
- Communicate regularly with students, provide guidance and referrals to appropriate campus resources, and monitor student progress toward academic success.
- Advocate for and contribute to campus-wide retention initiatives and recommend strategies to improve student persistence and engagement.
- Maintain accurate student records, including contact logs, case notes, and related documentation.
- Ensure compliance with established operational procedures, university policies, program requirements, and applicable federal regulations.
- Assist students with FAFSA completion and provide general financial aid and scholarship information.
- Serve as a back-up School Certifying Official for military-connected education benefits.
