Position: Coordinator for Student Volunteerism

This position is responsible for designing and facilitating volunteer opportunities that provide students with experiences that create awareness of issues and challenges facing the campus, community, and society as a whole. Reporting to the Director of Student Leadership (Fraternity & Sorority Life and Student Volunteerism), the Coordinator leads SUNY Plattsburgh's initiatives on student participation in community service including Project HELP (the student volunteerism clearinghouse) and related initiatives, the Empire State Service Corps/Ameri Corps Program, the Alternative Breaks program, and the Contribution Project.

Additional responsibilities are expected to include: overseeing the process of advertising; selecting and administering the annual Community Service Scholarships; advising the No More Cancer Rally student-led fundraiser for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital; providing support to volunteerism-related Student Association clubs and organizations; assisting with processing and tracking service and philanthropy paperwork for fraternities and sororities; advising the related Campus/Community Relations Committee;

and developing plans for student learning reflection and recognition of outstanding achievements. The Coordinator recruits and supervises both student employees and student volunteers, assists the Director with strategic planning, and acts as a liaison to campus and community partners that relate specifically to the work of civic engagement and community service.

The Enrollment and Student Success division supports a student's entire collegiate experience from the point of admission through to graduation. We partner with students, faculty and staff to provide a network of opportunities and services that lead to student success. Collectively, the division of Enrollment and Student Success positively influences the health, safety and well-being of the student body. The Student Leadership office works to offer opportunities and programs for all students to be engaged in campus life in a variety of ways.

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree

* Experience in college/community collaborations

* Understanding of civic engagement and community service practices

* Proven history of volunteer engagement and service to others

* Effective communication skills

* Willingness and ability to work some evenings and weekends

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or a field related to volunteerism and community engagement

* Minimum of 1-3 years working experience in student affairs or a service, education or non-profit related field

* Prior experience with non-profit, community service, and/or philanthropic fund raising

* Skill in creating welcoming physical or virtual environment that fosters student engagement, ownership, and a sense of belonging

Salary (Applicant View)

$51,261 minimum, plus excellent benefits
