Position: 2026-27 ParaPro II

Parapro II

Assisting the classroom teacher in implementing and maintaining a consistent and sequential program for students, providing instruction to individual or small groups, and monitoring and reporting student progress.

Preparing and organizing lessons and materials as directed by the teacher.

Administering and scoring assessments according to established guidelines.

Providing instruction for individual and small groups as directed by the teacher.

Maintaining records of student progress.

Participating as member of an instructional team.

Monitoring and reporting behavior of students according to approved procedures.

Assisting in emergency drills, assemblies and field trips.

Participating in meetings and in-service training programs as requested.

Assisting students by providing emotional support, a friendly attitude and general guidance.

Assuring the health and safety of students by following health and safety practices and regulations.

Performing related duties as assigned.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

AA (or higher) degree or completion of 2 years of secondary education (72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits).

or ETS Test with a score of at least 461.

Must qualify to work in the proximity of children under the conditions of a WSP/FBI background check.

Successfully complete a skills assessment test in the subjects of mathematics, grammar, spelling, language and reading.

Basic subjects taught in the District schools, including mathematics, grammar, spelling, language and reading.

Safe practices in classroom activities.

Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.

Basic record-keeping techniques.

Bilingual skills preferred.

Engage with students to support mathematics, grammar, spelling, language and reading up to the 6th grade level.

Learn child guidance principles and practices.

Communicate and maintain effective relationships with students, parents and staff.

Perform routine clerical duties in support of classroom activities.

Print and write legibly.

Understand and follow oral and written directions.

Learn procedures, functions and limitations of assigned duties.

Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Learn to apply and explain policies and procedures related to school and program activities.

Work cooperatively with others.

Monitor, observe and report student's behavior according to approved policies and procedures.

Operate instructional and office equipment.

Salary: PSE Salary Schedule.

Retirement benefits provided through the WA State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS).

189-190 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits to include 12 days of sick leave, three personal leave days. Prorated if applicable.
