Academic Affairs Initiatives Coordinator

The Academic Affairs Initiatives Coordinator will support the implementation of strategic priorities and initiatives across Academic Affairs at SUNY Plattsburgh. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, this position will collaborate with academic departments, administrative offices, and SUNY partners to advance institutional goals through project coordination, process improvement, communication, and operational support. The coordinator helps ensure projects move forward effectively, stakeholders remain informed and engaged, and institutional processes are implemented consistently across campus.

This position contributes to a broad portfolio of work. Responsibilities will include supporting curriculum review, approval, implementation, and reporting processes; assisting with assessment, accreditation, compliance, and continuous improvement efforts; developing and maintaining operational procedures, timelines, guidance documents, and tracking systems; coordinating student success initiatives such as early alert, retention, intervention, and cross-campus collaboration efforts; supporting initiatives that foster inclusive excellence, pluralism, and belonging;

coordinating cross-functional projects with campus and SUNY partners; and preparing communications, reports, guidance materials, and other documentation to support effective Academic Affairs operations and the successful achievement of institutional strategic goals.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree. Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in project coordination, operational management, process improvement, academic administration, or related work in higher education or a similarly complex organization. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze data, prepare reports, and support data-informed decision-making. Demonstrated ability to interpret policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements and apply them in operational settings.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to learn and utilize institutional technology systems and data platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree. Five or more years of relevant experience in higher education, preferably in a dean's office, provost's office, or similar academic administrative setting. Experience with curriculum processes, academic program development, assessment, compliance, or institutional operations. Experience with reporting, data analysis, or process improvement initiatives. Experience coordinating projects or initiatives across multiple offices or units. Experience supporting student success, retention, inclusive excellence, pluralism, or related institutional initiatives.

Familiarity with systems such as Curriculog, Kuali, Banner, Watermark, or similar platforms.

Salary (Applicant View) - $63,000 minimum, plus excellent benefits.
