Position: Test & Commissioning (T&C) Technician

T&C Technician

Pay Rate: $26.44 – $36.06/hour DOE (target rate approximately $30.00/hour) Shift Differential:
Additional $0.75/hour for 2nd Shift

Employment Type:

Contract Duration: 6-Month Contract with Opportunity for Direct Hire

Schedule:

Full-time, Rotating 1st and 2nd Shift (5x8 Schedule)

1st Shift: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

2nd Shift: Monday – Friday, 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM

Night, weekend, and holiday work may be required based on project needs

Plattsburgh, NY 12901 (100% Onsite)

Tekberry is seeking technically skilled and motivated T&C Technicians to support testing and commissioning activities within a high-tech transportation environment. This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy hands-on troubleshooting, field testing, and solving complex electrical and communication system challenges.

The ideal candidate will have experience preparing and executing testing activities, diagnosing system failures, troubleshooting electrical wiring and network communications, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure system performance and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Perform testing and commissioning activities on electrical, electronic, signaling, and communication systems
  • Prepare for and execute field testing activities in accordance with established procedures and project requirements
  • Identify defects, document non-conformities, and perform troubleshooting to support corrective actions
  • Diagnose and resolve failures involving wiring systems, network communications, and integrated equipment
  • Support installation verification and validation activities to ensure systems meet operational requirements
  • Accurately document testing results, observations, and technical findings
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, quality, and project teams to resolve issues and maintain project schedules
  • Utilize new technologies, tools, and diagnostic equipment to improve efficiency and system performance
  • Maintain compliance with safety standards, PPE requirements, and site procedures
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to a team-focused work environment
Must-Have Qualifications
  • Technical Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or a related field OR
  • Equivalent experience with a minimum of 8 years in an engineering or technician role, supported by post-secondary technical training or supervisory experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the design, installation, or testing and commissioning of train signaling and/or communication systems
  • Experience preparing and executing field testing activities
  • Experience identifying defects, documenting non-conformities, and troubleshooting system failures
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders
  • Customer-focused mindset with strong attention to quality and results
  • Ability to utilize new technologies and diagnostic tools effectively
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous Testing & Commissioning (T&C) experience within the railway industry
  • Railway signaling maintenance experience
  • Experience working with communication systems and complex integrated technologies
  • Strong technical documentation skills
  • Experience collaborating across multiple departments and technical teams
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules
  • Passion for troubleshooting and continuous improvement
Work Environment
  • Manufacturing, field testing, and transportation environments
  • Requires use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds without assistance
  • Ability to walk quickly on uneven surfaces while wearing required PPE
  • Requires flexibility to support varying schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional travel assignments
