Converting Operator B

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The Operator in the Converting Department is primarily responsible for the full operation of the converting lines and reports directly to the Shift Supervisor or Lead Operator. The Operator is required to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this position in a timely & efficient manner to maintain product run rate and quality while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires the ability to read a ruler and perform simple arithmetic functions consistently and accurately, including but not limited to converting decimals to fractions
Requires the ability to know when to ask for assistance when a problem arises that will affect the department performance and product quality
Requires the ability to solve practical equipment and/or product problems and be self-directed within the framework of the essential duties and responsibilities
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
Prior factory experience with a plastic film manufacturer preferred

Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.

Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs equipment set-ups and changeovers as trained
Understands and executes on all job card instructions
Aligns web, turning bars, hole punches, sealing hands, handle attachments, etc.
Troubleshoots and diagnoses minor and major problems with converting equipment;
Requests the assistance of Maintenance personnel when needed
Adheres to and complies with work order program for all maintenance-related issues
Ensures quality assurance on all products being run through the converting equipment
Adheres to and complies with Company safety policies and procedures
Adheres to and complies with all Company quality control procedures, including but not limited to documented quality checks every 3 hours, at minimum
Adheres to and complies with all Company scrap control procedures
Reports all maintenance issues to the Lead Operator
Moves, packs, palletizes & weighs bags/skids when required
Weighs & accounts for scrap; documents appropriately and moves to the specified location
Keeps work station clean and orderly, free from excess bags and other debris

The work environment described here is representative of those an employee would encounter on a daily basis while performing the job functions.
This position works a 12/hour shift. The schedule includes day and night work as well as weekends and holidays. It can also include overtime when needed.
