Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse
This is a 13-week contract position.
12-hour night shifts, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 3:1. Weekend requirements typically every other weekend, and the schedule will be adjusted to meet the needs of the unit and patient care.
The Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients with acute and complex medical conditions. The nurse will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes while delivering compassionate care. The role involves monitoring patient vital signs, administering medications, and making critical assessments in a high-acuity environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform and record patient assessments, document findings, and communicate effectively with team members.
- Administer medications and manage IV drips as necessary, including insulin and cardiac drips.
- Assist with post-cardiac catheterization procedures and ensure proper monitoring.
- Utilize telemetry for continuous patient monitoring and reporting significant changes in condition.
- Implement and follow unit-specific protocols and procedures, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to plan and execute patient care plans.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:
- Current Registered Nurse license in New York, to be submitted at the time of application.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience, specifically in a telemetry or progressive care unit.
- Certifications:
AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS are required; NIHSS must be obtained prior to starting. - Experience with EPIC documentation system within the past 2 years is mandatory.
