Registered Nurse IMC​/PCU​/Stepdown

Job Summary:

The registered nurse in the IMC/PCU/Stepdown unit provides acute inpatient care to adult patients with complex cardiac and medical conditions. The role involves critical monitoring, medication administration, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Administer medications, including insulin and cardiac drips, and manage invasive procedures like starting IVs and post-cardiac cath care.
• Monitor patient vital signs and utilize telemetry equipment to track patient status continuously.
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Respond promptly to patient emergencies, including hemodynamic instabilities and airway compromise.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient care, procedures, and medication administration in EPIC.
• Support float team coverage across different units, ensuring seamless patient care delivery.

Qualifications:

• Hold an active NY RN license with a minimum of 1 year of recent tele and cardiac unit experience.
• Verify current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certification before starting.
• Demonstrate proficiency with Epic EMR system within the past 2 years.
• Have reliable transportation and the ability to start within the next week.
• Proven ability to perform complex patient assessments and manage multiple high-acuity patients.
