American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Dept RN for a busy Level 3 trauma center requiring active NY licensure and recent Epic experience.
Details- 29-bed Emergency Dept with 4-bed Behavioral Health unit and 7-bed Fast Track, all beds able to swing to ER
- Level 3 trauma center treating adult and pediatric patients, neonate to geriatric
- Nurse to patient ratio of 1:5, sometimes higher depending on volume in a very busy community setting
- Rotating 12-hour evening shift, 3:00 PM to 3:30 AM, 36 hours per week
- Weekend requirements with scheduling adjusted to meet unit needs; no block scheduling
- Holiday coverage required; no call requirements
- No floating required
- Support staff includes CNAs/PCTs, unit clerk, crisis clinicians, and advanced practice providers staffed throughout the day
- Uses Philips MP40 monitors, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication system
- Documentation in Epic
- Active NY RN license or proof of pending application with applied date required at time of submission
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience required
- Minimum 1 year of specialty (ER) experience required
- Epic experience within the past 2 years required
- Charge RN experience preferred
- Prior travel experience preferred
- Must be able to work confidently with higher than 1:4 patient ratios
- Manage a general ED assignment that may include boarded, psychiatric, and COVID patients
- Perform own IV starts, EKGs, and respiratory treatments; IV therapy and respiratory support available as needed
- Nurses manage medication drips prepared by 24/7 pharmacy support
- Respiratory therapy and anesthesia support available 24/7, with ventilators managed by respiratory
- Orientation consists of 20 hours for short contracts or 24 hours for 13-week contracts
- Dress code includes navy blue or white scrubs, closed-toe shoes, no artificial nails, and clean-shaven facial hair
- Strict zero-tolerance policy for cell phone or earbud use while working
- Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended due to lack of public transportation
- All-season or snow tires recommended for vehicles during November through April
- Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius
