Materials Specialist - Distribution Services

Job Title

Under the direction of the Manager, performs various materials functions that relate to receiving, storage/warehousing, inventory control, issuing, printing, and transporting of material. Operates an automated information management system according to established procedures.

Education/

Skills Required:

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be able to receive, inventory, lift, move, and distribute materials in a rapid, accurate, skillful, and safe manner to hospital customers.
• Must be able to operate equipment provided for the handling, processing, and transportation of material.
• Must be able to demonstrate basic technical and clerical skills to account for the quantity of material or supplies issued or processed.
• Must have very good organizational and communication skills.
• Appropriate New York State driver's license to operate assigned vehicles is required.
• Three (3) years prior retail/warehouse experience preferred.
• Must demonstrate competence in two (2) Distribution skills within one year of hire.
• Must be able to reach qualifications of demonstrating four (4) Distribution skills to move to Materials Specialist II within 36 months of accepting Materials Specialists I position.

As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
