Critical Laser is a fast-paced laser cutting job shop known for precision, quality, and quick turnaround. We're growing our team and looking for a detail-oriented Drafting Programmer who can bridge the gap between client specifications and shop-floor fabrication.
Job SummaryThe Drafting Programmer uses Solid Works and AutoCAD to turn client designs into laser-ready programs, working directly with clients on quoting and project scope while making sure finished parts meet exact specifications. This role blends CAD/CAM programming, client communication, and hands-on quality inspection.
Key Responsibilities- Utilize Solid Works and AutoCAD to create laser-ready programs for fabrication
- Understand and apply both 2D and 3D aspects of programming
- Meet with clients to discuss laser cutting and fabrication needs
- Generate quotes and job costing for client projects
- Analyze blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the best machining methods
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and bore gauges
- Proficient in Solid Works and AutoCAD CAD/CAM software
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, including laser cutting, press brakes, and hardware insertion
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and GD&T symbols
- Excellent mathematical skills for calculations and measurements
- Familiarity with precision measuring instruments
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to fabricate parts from raw materials using various machine tools
- 1–3 years of relevant CAD/CAM, drafting, or laser programming experience preferred
