Accountant Position

We are looking for an experienced accountant to join a financial services organization in Pleasant Hill, California. This long-term contract position is suited for someone who can manage core accounting activities, support timely close processes, and deliver accurate reporting in a fast-moving environment. The role offers the opportunity to contribute across multiple entities while partnering with operational and leadership teams to strengthen financial visibility and control.

Responsibilities:

• Record and post journal entries while maintaining accurate general ledger activity across assigned accounts and entities.
• Contribute to month-end and year-end close activities by preparing schedules, reviewing account activity, and meeting reporting deadlines.
• Perform detailed reconciliations for bank accounts, credit card transactions, and intercompany balances, resolving discrepancies promptly.
• Review balance sheet and income statement accounts, identify unusual fluctuations, and provide clear variance analysis to stakeholders.
• Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and internal management reports that support informed business decisions.
• Track and account for sales, cash activity, inventory movements, and operating expenses within a high-volume, multi-location setting.
• Help uphold internal controls and accounting procedures by ensuring transactions are recorded consistently and in compliance with policy.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and leadership to provide timely financial information, audit support, and process improvement recommendations.
