Yoga Teacher Training Instructor (TEMPORARY)
DVC seeks a temporary instructor for the Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) Program. The successful candidate will deliver comprehensive, high‑quality instruction that prepares students to become professional yoga instructors across private, institutional, and clinical settings.
Duties and Responsibilities- Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines, and class schedules.
- Create and maintain an environment that emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking.
- Evaluate progress of students concerning educational matters and grade student work.
- Meet with students outside of class as needed.
- Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
- Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
- Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member.
- Maintain accurate academic records.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
All applicants must possess one of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher AND two years of professional experience.
- Associate degree AND six years of professional experience.
Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master’s degree. The experience must be directly related to the teaching assignment.
License / Certificates / Credentials- Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) 500E or higher from Yoga Alliance or other certification bodies (e.g., IAYT, BWY, IYN, YCB).
- Master’s in physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise, or adaptive physical education.
- Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration, or physical therapy.
- Teaching experience at a California Community College and/or University and/or Career Education Program.
- Yoga Alliance certification by a recognized registered yoga school.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Online teaching experience (Canvas or other LMS).
Adjunct instructor classroom faculty pay rate is $77.87–$128.97 per hour (up to $151.16). Counseling, Librarian, Disabilities Specialist pay rate is $51.37–$87.77 per hour (up to $100.65).
- Membership in State Teachers Retirement System (STRS).
- District‑paid benefits (employee contributes 6%) for employee and dependents/domestic partners, including medical (Anthem Blue Cross or Kaiser) insurance with chiropractic services, dental and vision, flexible spending plan, life and long‑term disability insurance, employee assistance program, deferred compensation (403(b) and 457), and sabbatical leave.

- Union option with fees:
Local 1 one‑time initiation fee $45.00 and monthly contribution of 1% of gross pay + $1;
United Faculty agency fee 0.55% of gross pay + $2.50.
