Substitute Instructional Assistant
Substitute Instructional Assistants assist teachers in a comprehensive learning environment which utilizes a highly structured behavior management system, while assisting students with communication, self-help, vocational, and academic skills. Special Education Programs
- The CCCOE provides a full range of services designed to meet the needs of students with disabilities from birth to age 22 at locations throughout the county. Classroom settings include fully integrated sites on regular school campuses, community-based instruction, and special centers. Assignments may include assisting student with personal hygiene, feeding, toileting and changing diapers. Lifting is required in all special education classrooms.
Court School Programs
- The CCCOE operates a court school educational program. Mt. McKinley is located at Juvenile Hall in Martinez. Students receive standards-based academic coursework in preparation of attaining high school diplomas or preparing for the High School Equivalency Test.
Community School Programs
- The Golden Gate Community School program has four classrooms throughout the county. Students receive instruction that is transferable to the student's home district. There is an emphasis on improving academic performance, exhibiting appropriate behavior, showing respect and exhibiting self-control, all while learning standard curriculum and developing individual talents, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Educational requirements:
A high school diploma or equivalent. A written proficiency test will be required for applicants who do not meet one of the following requirements:
Verification of 48 semester units post high school, OR Possession of an A.A. degree or higher. Previous job-related experience is preferred.
