Job Overview
The Engineering Department at Diablo Valley College is seeking part‑time Engineering instructors to teach lecture and lab courses at the Pleasant Hill campus beginning Fall 2026 and/or future semesters. Courses include Introduction to Engineering, Engineering Drawing, MATLAB, C++ Programming, Electrical Circuits, Materials Science, Thermodynamics, and Statics.
Responsibilities- Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines, and class schedules.
- Create and maintain an environment that emphasizes learning, encourages discussion of ideas, and promotes critical thinking.
- Evaluate student progress and assign grades.
- Meet with students outside of class.
- Maintain professional conduct and ethical standards.
- Maintain current knowledge in subject‑matter areas.
- Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member.
- Maintain accurate academic records.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications:
- Master’s degree in any field of engineering, or
- Bachelor’s in a relevant engineering discipline AND a Master’s in mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry, or geology, or
- Equivalent qualification as defined by the statewide Academic Senate for California Community Colleges.
Note:
A bachelor's degree in engineering with a professional engineer’s license is an alternative qualification. If the title(s) of your degree(s) do not exactly match the listed disciplines, you must submit an equivalency form.
- Prior teaching experience.
- Interest and/or experience supporting a highly diverse student population.
