Description of Position

Diablo Valley College ( DVC ) in Pleasant Hill welcomes faculty with a vision of excellence in instruction and an ability to employ various formats and styles in support of successful student learning. DVC seeks faculty who can adapt to a variety of teaching situations and who have the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, staff and others in a campus climate that promotes cultural diversity and multicultural understanding.

The primary teaching assignment may include theory and clinical instruction of dental hygiene students with the goal of helping students fulfill mastery of entry-level competencies. Teaching assignments may include, but not limited to Clinical Dental Hygiene, Head and Neck Anatomy and Local Anesthesia.

All dental hygiene program faculty must maintain current knowledge of the specific subjects they are teaching, and documented background in current educational methodology concepts consistent with teaching assignments.

The idea of promoting social mobility through education is unconditionally and uncompromisingly embraced by community colleges. This is an exciting role, and it comes with a heavy responsibility. Simply put, we need to create environments where our students achieve greater academic success, so much so that we close our persistent equity/opportunity gaps.
