Job Overview

Project Geologist (Remote, Northern California) – Join us to conduct environmental investigations, lead remediation projects, and collaborate with a high‑performing team.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct and manage environmental investigations, soil and groundwater remediation, soil gas and indoor air evaluations, and related technical activities for diverse clients.
  • Meet with clients and regulatory agencies, including the US Environmental Protection Agency and state/local environmental health agencies.
  • Write and review remedial documents and reports such as feasibility studies, remedial and corrective action plans, remedial design documents, progress and completion reports.
  • Design and negotiate remedial solutions for contaminated soil and groundwater.
  • Direct production of digital maps and plans using GIS.
  • Maintain chemical, strati graphic, and other data; produce representations such as time‑series graphs.
  • Conduct statistical evaluations of groundwater data—including trend, intra‑well, and inter‑well analyses.
  • Coordinate the field work for client projects, scheduling and overseeing utility locating, excavation, and drilling firms.
  • Mentor and train junior staff in field procedures, data management, and GIS production.
  • Meet or exceed client scope, budget, and schedule expectations.
  • Evaluate sample results and develop tables and figures for technical reports.
  • Write and review proposals.
  • Ensure project work is completed safely while maintaining quality and data integrity.
  • Actively develop your own career growth.
Qualifications
  • BS in Geology or a closely related field; completion of a field course of study.
  • 10+ years of experience providing environmental consulting services, including subsurface investigations, technical reporting, and GIS map production.
  • Experience with groundwater sampling (low‑flow sampling and other methods).
  • Experience with strati graphic logging from various drilling methods such as hollow‑stem auger, direct‑push, air rotary, and rock coring.
  • 40‑hour OSHA certification and current 8‑hour HAZWOPER refresher.
  • Strong client, regulatory, field staff, technical staff, and subcontractor communication skills.
  • Ability to write project work plans, health and safety plans, traffic control plans, and erosion control plans.
  • Ability to mentor, train, and manage staff.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Safety awareness, solid safety record, and knowledge of safe work practices.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
