About this role
We are seeking an outstanding and driven individual to join the Single Cell Biology group as a contract position. This role will support the development and adaptation of existing 10x single cell assays to automated workflows, and support customers with advanced troubleshooting efforts. You should enjoy working in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment alongside colleagues in Molecular/Cell Biology, Chemistry, Fluidics, and Computational Biology.
Candidates must have hands‑on experience running 10x single cell assays, a deep understanding of NGS and standard molecular biology techniques, and the ability to apply that knowledge to troubleshoot complex systems.
- Support the development, testing, and verification of new or existing Single Cell workflows on automated platforms
- Hands‑on execution of complex single-cell assays such as 10x Flex Gene Expression (e.g., sample processing, library preparation, sequencing, data analysis)
- Prepare high‑quality NGS libraries using the Chromium and various liquid handling systems (e.g., Hamilton, Tecan, Beckman, SPT Labtech, Agilent)
- Systematically troubleshoot, optimize, and refine specific steps within the manual and automated assay workflow to improve performance, robustness, and efficiency
- Partner with R&D, Support, and Marketing to drive the development and adoption of automation solutions for our customers
- B.S./M.S. or Ph.D. in chemistry, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or related field.
- B.S./M.S. with 7 years or Ph.D. with 3 years of relevant biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience is preferred
- Direct, demonstrable experience with advanced molecular technologies, particularly Next‑Generation Sequencing (NGS) workflows
- Exceptional proficiency in molecular biology techniques, including nucleic acid extraction, PCR/qPCR, and NGS library preparation
- A proven track‑record of using and optimizing and troubleshooting molecular biology protocols
- Experience with experimental design and statistical data analysis
- Ability to perform complex multi‑step experiments with detailed and diligent attention to planning, organization, hands‑on technique, and record keeping
- Experience working with challenging clinical sample types (e.g., FFPE tissue, primary tumor cells, low‑input samples)
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to manage priorities
- Desire to work in a flexible and fast‑paced startup environment
- Resourcefulness and ingenuity in sourcing alternative 3rd party consumables and reagents that will integrate workflows seamlessly with automated platforms
- Experience operating and/or programming liquid handling systems (e.g., Hamilton, Tecan, Beckman, SPT Labtech, Agilent)
- Experience with the product development lifecycle, including new product introduction and familiarity with formal product testing (e.g., verification and validation)
This is a contract role.
