Job Title: Community Relations Coordinator
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree and prior experience in public relations, communications, or related field
- Excellent verbal, writing, and technology skills
- Expertise and successful experience with social media and on-line communication tools
- Expertise and successful experience with multi-agency collaboration
- Knowledge of public education, especially in the state of Iowa
- Knowledge of current events, trends, and circumstances that could affect the school district
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable
- Physical at time of hire
Reports to: Superintendent of Schools
Job Goal:To develop and coordinate a district-level community relations program that promotes the education that students receive in the Southeast Polk Community Schools while serving as the point of contact for all non-district entities. The director should also enhance current and future district programs and initiatives through external networks and resources.
Performance Responsibilities:- Coordinate all district marketing and branding efforts
- Collaborate with other district stakeholders to develop, implement, and consistently evaluate an effective and healthy district communication system
- Supervise and coordinate the preparation, revision, and distribution of all district publications (electronic or otherwise)
- Coordinate all media interest in the district and provide reasonable response to media requests
- Plan and supervise periodic polling of public opinion
- Speak at public meetings on issues of general or specific pertinence to the district
- Plan and coordinate district events, public meetings, and the district's registration process
- Develop and implement school/business partnership
- Plan and direct crisis communications in the district
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Certification of good health signed by a licensed physician.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment with frequent interruptions.
