Campus Monitor

Southeast Polk Junior High, Pleasant Hill, Iowa

Mon‑Thu 7:00‑3:15 (½ hour lunch);
Wed 9:00‑3:15 (½ hour lunch)

• High School Diploma or GED
• At least one year of successful work experience in building security or a related field.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of adolescent behavior.
• Competency working in a culturally diverse environment or the willingness to acquire these skills.
• Good interpersonal relationship skills.
• Ability to take charge in emergency situations.
• Ability to make decisions within guidelines provided.

Building Administrator

To provide assistance to students traveling throughout the building and alert teachers/administration of any concerns.

• Provide supervision of parking lots, cross walks, and bus lanes during high traffic times.
• Monitor hallways, stairwells, locker banks, and all other areas of the building.
• Conduct security checks throughout and around the perimeter of the building.
• Work as a team member with teachers and administration.
• Interact effectively and appropriately with students, teachers, and parents.
• Provide assistance with emergencies or problem times.
• Provide corrective feedback to students.
• Document negatives and positives in detail.
• Alert teachers to the special needs of students.
• Provide an appropriate role model for students.
• Maintain confidentiality on sensitive information.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Must be capable of walking continuously throughout the work day.
• Must be able to work outside throughout the entire school day and adapt to all weather conditions.
• Must be capable of standing throughout the work day.
• Must present an appropriate appearance and personal cleanliness suited to working in close proximity to students and adults.
• Must be able to work with interruptions during a shift.
• Must be capable of working with students with different personalities, capabilities, and physical and mental limitations.
• Must be capable of working in a noisy environment.

The physical demands described above represent real‑life tasks an employee may need to perform as part of the essential functions of this job.

10‑month employment, 8 hours/day. The hourly schedule may be adjusted (to include evenings/weekends) at supervisor’s discretion based on building needs.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Southeast Polk Board Policy.
