The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of Community Access, Bureau of Child Support Services is seeking a Child Support Case Manager (Job Classification: Child Support Recovery Officer) to join our team!
The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Community Access and Eligibility Division, Child Support Services, is seeking a Child Support Case Manager to join our Des Moines team to help Iowa families successfully navigate the child support process. As part of our team, you will play a crucial role in establishing, enforcing, and monitoring child support and medical support orders, as well as encouraging families to provide financial and emotional support for their children.
Job Duties- Manage an assigned caseload, perform complex case management, prioritize tasks and time to meet performance goals and critical deadlines.
- Communicate with customers and community partners including human service agencies, employers, clerk of court, and attorneys to achieve the goals of the Child Support Program through phone calls, emails, and written correspondence.
- Build strong working relationships with parents to help them overcome any reluctance to cooperate with Child Support Services and programs.
- Independently analyze a variety of complex case situations and legal scenarios to determine the appropriate action to establish, enforce, or modify support.
- Use Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, Outlook) proficiently.
- Having the aptitude to learn other computerized systems, including ICAR, is critically important for success in this position.
- Comprehend and adhere to confidentiality provisions in the Code of Iowa.
- Critical thinking skills and executing complex tasks independently.
- Customer service, including conflict de‑escalation.
- Adjust and adapt to work pressures and changing situations with ease.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
