Based in Madison, WI

As an Engineering & Software Development Manager, you’ll lead a skilled team of engineers focused on designing and deploying cutting‑edge software, automation, and control solutions. You’ll oversee projects from planning through final implementation, ensuring seamless security control system integration and operation. This is an opportunity to contribute to high‑profile government and industrial security projects while expanding your expertise in software development, electrical controls, IT, and automation.

• Lead & Develop:
  Guide a team of engineers as they design, configure, and deploy software solutions including HMI, PLC, and integrated controls.
• Oversee & Manage:
  Oversee project schedules, deliverables, and task follow‑up to ensure milestones are met.
• Cross‑Team
  
  Collaboration:
  
  Serve as the primary liaison between engineering and internal stakeholders.
• Team Development – Support career growth through mentorship, training, and recruiting new talent. Lead interviews and represent SGTS at career fairs.
• Departmental Ownership – Take full ownership of your team’s output, quality, and long‑term success.
• Process Optimization:
  Identify and implement continuous improvements within the department.
• Administrative Oversight:
  Manage daily and/or weekly touchbase meetings for the team to ensure everyone is on task and address any questions. Review and approve timesheets, time off requests, etc.

• Leadership: 3+ Years leading engineering teams and managing projects
• Electrical Control & System Design:
  Understanding of electrical schematics, panel layout software, and control networks (AutoCAD experience a plus).
• Problem‑Solving & Self‑Motivation:
  Ability to work independently and as a part of a team with a strong ability to prioritize tasks, projects and goals based on the larger, business, objectives.
• Strong Communication
  
  Skills:
  
  Experience collaborating with clients and cross‑functional teams.
• Hands‑on Troubleshooting and Software
  
  Experience:
  
  2+ years in electrical engineering, automation, or security technology.
• Security Clearance:
  Must pass government background checks.

• Experience in Security Systems – Familiarity with access control, video surveillance, and intercom systems.
• Degree or Equivalent Experience – Associate or Bachelor’s in Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related technical field.
