Role Summary

Data Architect - M&Q IT at Lilly Kenosha Manufacturing Site, Kenosha, Wisconsin. Define, design, build, and maintain the data architecture vision, strategy, and principles for the Kenosha site, including standards for naming, describing, governing, managing, modelling, transforming, and searching data across the enterprise or a business function. The role requires deep knowledge of how data is used and the implications on people, processes, capabilities, and technologies including analytics and data integrations.

You will work closely with data producers, information management, data engineers, and data consumers to enable data governance, data integration, and secure cloud architectures.

Responsibilities
  • Data/Information Vision and Strategy includes the ability to work with business to identify future uses for Lilly data and anticipated business results and enable processes to support these needs.
  • Data Planning/Modelling and Data Lifecycle Design includes the ability to develop a technical strategy for future data structure and data integration.
  • Develop and provide expertise in enterprise data domains; this includes data relationships, data quality, understanding of business data needs and the associated technology toolsets and methodologies.
  • Develop understanding how the enterprise data strategies, platforms, and technologies enable business execution. Use this knowledge to appropriately challenge status quo and drive business and Tech at Lilly collaborations.
  • Analyze data from multiple domains; discover trends and associations, synthesize new integration constructs that assist non-expert users to find similar trends and associations.
  • Facilitate efficient and scalable data exchange between Lilly and its external partners using industry standards and data integration methodologies.
  • Use cutting edge information technologies to organize and analyze data.
  • Extend publicly available data sets, ontologies, and taxonomies for internal Lilly use.
  • Continuously scan the technology environment for new trends and techniques; interface with external consultants and thought leaders as needed.
  • Synthesize new scalable approaches for Lilly data integration; derive the supporting arguments, communicate, and articulate the reasons for the new approaches to fellow engineers as well as senior management.
Qualifications
  • Required:

    Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related technical field.
  • Required:

    10+ years of experience designing large-scale data models for functional, operational, and analytical environments (Conceptual, Logical, Physical & Dimensional).
  • Required:

    7+ years of experience in several of the following disciplines: statistical methods, data modelling, ontology development, semantic graph construction, linked data and/or relational schema design.
  • Required:

    Demonstrated ability to analyze large, complex data domains and craft practical solutions for analytics.
  • Required:

    Demonstrated ability to communicate with a geographically dispersed group of business and technical colleagues.
  • Required:

    Ability to review and provide practical recommendations on design patterns, performance considerations and optimization, database versions, and database deployment strategies.
  • Required:

    Knowledgeable in data functions such as Data Governance, Master Data Management, and Business Intelligence.
  • Required:

    Experience moving on premises solutions into cloud and knowledge in multiple data ingestion patterns.
  • Required:

    All data architecture roles should have foundational knowledge in:
    • Demonstrated communication, leadership, teamwork, project delivery, and problem solving skills
    • Experienced in architectural processes (e.g. blueprinting, reference architecture, governance, etc.)
    • Understanding of external data standards (e.g. HL7, CDISC, SDTM) and external data vocabularies (e.g. MedDRA, RxNorm, SNOMED)
    • Health care industry knowledge and business acumen
  • Required:

    Experience as an autonomous IT leader leading large-scale portfolios and sophisticated high-demanding customers.
  • Required:

    Demonstrated ability to influence IT and business strategies to drive large-scale outcomes.
