The Switching Supervisor is required to perform supervisory and other management responsibilities while also performing yard management services in accordance with the best standards of the transportation industry and in compliance with FHI policies and procedures.

• Direct associates to perform operations safely and efficiently.
• Utilize daily huddles with associates to ensure operating procedures.
• Communicate with associates, host management, transportation partners, and FHI Leadership to ensure performance standards and goals are accomplished.
• Provide recommendations for hiring, promotions, and terminations of associates.
• Make recommendations and implement changes for performance improvement.
• Maintain a safety mindset through daily safety inspections, adherence to safety policies, EHS Safety Audits, reporting potential safety threats; work with leadership to remedy threatening situations.
• Mentor and train new associates.
• Comply with and enforce time‑keeping policies and procedures. Conduct time‑keeping audits and approve time.
• Move trailers on property as directed by customer or systems.
• Verify seals and perform load status yard checks, as required by facility.
• Perform trailer safety checks including, but not limited to, sliding tandem axles, if required.
• Red‑tag trailers if needed.
• Obey applicable traffic laws while conducting operations on behalf of the customer.
• Obey facility traffic and safety rules, as required.
• Comply with appropriate training records and sign‑off procedures.
• Participate in continuous improvement processes.
• Maintain an effective Preventative Maintenance Inspection (PMI) schedule for equipment.

• Warehouse work environment with varying temperatures, at both hot and cold extremes.
• Must be able to operate a Switching Truck safely.
• Use of standard office equipment in typical office environment/conditions.

• Experience working with switching equipment and backing trailers.
• Experience with leading a team to drive results.
• Experience with performing the functions of the job for Spotter/Yard Switcher position in a distribution setting.
• Experience performing safety checks and preventative maintenance inspections of switching equipment.

• Knowledge of Spotter/Yard Switcher position, preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English.
• Must possess a current driver’s license.
• Safe driving record.
