General Utility Worker

This role supports a high-volume food production facility by rotating through key areas including sanitation/pack-off, packing, palletizing, and box making. You help keep the production line running smoothly by maintaining cleanliness, organizing materials, and preparing products for shipment, all while following strict food safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Rotate through sanitation/pack-off, packing, palletizing, and box-making areas as needed to support production demands.
  • Dispose of extra materials that will not be used in production in a safe and organized manner.
  • Break down and dispose of incoming packages and labels according to facility procedures.
  • Sort and separate waste streams into trash, cardboard, and plastic to support cleanliness and recycling efforts.
  • Spray machines and containers with disinfectant and follow sanitation protocols to maintain a clean and safe food production environment.
  • Assist with general production activities, including preparing materials, handling product, and supporting packaging operations.
  • Inspect products and materials visually to ensure they meet basic quality and safety standards before packing.
  • Support packaging operations by preparing boxes, packing finished product, and stacking or palletizing items for shipment.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and all facility rules related to food safety, cleanliness, and personal protective equipment.
  • Work a consistent 10-hour shift, performing repetitive tasks and lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs throughout the shift.
  • Communicate clearly in English with team members and follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Adhere to overtime and scheduling requirements, including working most Saturdays and maintaining productivity across 50+ hours per week.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs continuously throughout a 10-hour shift.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English to follow instructions, safety procedures, and production documentation.
  • At least 1 year of work history demonstrating reliability and consistent attendance.
  • Comfort working in a refrigerated production environment with temperatures around 30–40 degrees.
  • Willingness to perform general production, packaging, and inspection tasks on a rotating basis.
  • Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and sanitation procedures in a food production setting.
  • Capability to work 2nd shift hours and overtime as required, including most Saturdays.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in production or general manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in packaging operations or palletizing in a warehouse or plant setting.
  • Familiarity with inspection tasks, such as checking product appearance, labels, or packaging integrity.
  • Comfort using basic cleaning and disinfecting equipment in an industrial or food production facility.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-volume operation.

Work Environment

The role is based in a GMP-compliant food production environment focused on meat processing and patty-making, with a refrigerated production floor maintained at approximately 30–40 degrees.
