  • POSITION PURPOSE

    Coordinates patient appointments and resources required for seamless care. This includes serving as the primary point of contact for referring physicians, patients, and caregivers to ensure seamless coordination and delivery of services. The position also requires the application of nursing principles, procedural support, theories, and techniques to achieve optimal patient outcomes and compliance with all established standards and practices. This is accomplished by utilizing the nursing process to assess patients' physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs, developing individualized care plans, implementing those plans, and evaluating patient responses to care.

    Additionally, the role involves facilitating, coordinating, educating, and providing nursing services within the Imaging Services Departments to ensure quality care is provided. The nurse will be responsible for delivering comprehensive care to patients of all age groups, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

  • MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED

    Diploma, Associate Degree

  • MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

    1-2 years of experience in an Imaging Department (preferred)

  • LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

    Current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire. Current ACLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or the ability to obtain certification within 6 weeks of hire. Licensure to be eligible to practice as a Registered Nurse or Graduate Nurse in the State of Wisconsin.

  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

    Ability to read, write, hear, speak, and comprehend the English language. Ability to prioritize workload, handle multiple tasks and to work independently with limited supervision. The physical, technical, and cognitive ability as well as the manual dexterity, to use patient care equipment. Requires excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Work effectively independently and as part of a team.

    Communication skills, nursing assessment skills, critical thinking/problem solving skills, and teaching/counseling skills.

  • PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    Accurately conducts patient interviews to obtain nursing history and assess needs for required procedures, ensuring appropriate preparation for imaging. Administers and monitors medications, contrast materials, intravenous conscious sedation, narcotics, intravenous fluids, and treatments under the direction of a radiologist or physician. Assists with positioning and setup of patients for procedures, ensuring patient comfort and adherence to safety protocols. Operates nursing and monitoring equipment, recognizing changes in vital signs (including electrocardiogram), and implements interventions to maintain patient stability during procedures.

    Ensures compliance with Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) standards for breast imaging, including documentation, and quality control measures. Accurately documents patient information, including procedural notes, orders, and charges in the Electronic Health Record (EHR), under physician direction. Facilitates pre-procedural and post-procedural care, providing patient education and ensuring proper follow‑up for breast imaging procedures and biopsies. Assists in maintaining clean, organized, and well‑supplied department work areas.

    Recognizes and addresses life‑threatening situations during imaging procedures, taking timely action to ensure patient safety and manage emergencies. Oversees follow‑up care for patients undergoing procedures, or other complications noted during their imaging exam, ensuring tracking of abnormal results and timely follow‑up.
