Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Waterfront Director, and in accordance with the policies of the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee, a Lifeguard is responsible for the overall safety and supervision of the pool and lake.
Lifeguards are responsible for politely enforcing policies; they will be aware of and promote the YMCA programs and philosophy.
Qualifications- This position requires certification in nationally recognized Lifeguarding (ARC), current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Administering Emergency Oxygen, and Standard First Aid certifications.
- Individuals hired without ARC lifeguarding (but have an equivalent certification) must complete the ARC lifeguard review course within 90 days of employment.
- They must be able to pass a water skills test consisting of a 300-yard swim, 2 minutes of treading water, and perform all rescue skills at a competent level.
- Lifeguards must be friendly, consistent, and assertive.
- The incumbent will exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.
