Weber High School – PT Life Skills SpEd Para educator (28217)

Starting Date: Aug 20, 2026

A position has been declared open in the Weber School District for a part‑time Special Education Para educator in the Life Skills classroom. This position is for 5.75 hours per day, 180 days (9 months) per year, and is compensated according to Lane 4(B) of the Paraprofessionals Salary Schedule.

This position is funded, in full or in part, through grant allocations or enrollment‑based funding sources. Employment is guaranteed through the current school year (or the upcoming school year if the posting occurs during summer). Continuation of employment beyond this period (or the position’s hourly workload) is not assured and is contingent upon the availability of future funding.

THIS POSITION WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL FILLED, AFTER A MINIMUM OF 5 WORKING DAYS.

Purpose Statement
  • Assisting assigned teaching personnel in the supervision and instruction of special education students; performing classroom clerical tasks; and assisting students by meeting special health care needs and developing students’ daily living and behavioral skills.
Essential Functions
  • Adapt classroom work under the direction of the teacher to support and reinforce lesson plans.
  • Assist in job coaching activities (work skills, filling out applications, preparing for interviews, following up on job leads, etc.) to promote student success.
  • Assist other personnel as required for the completion of their work activities.
  • Confere with parents to evaluate students’ progress and implement students’ objectives as requested.
  • Drive students for transportation to/from interviews, job sites, etc.
  • Implement instructional behavioral programs under the teacher’s supervision to improve academic success.
  • Maintain students’ file/records for documentation and reliable information.
  • Monitor individual students, classroom, library, playground activities, etc., to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Perform record‑keeping and clerical functions (scheduling, copying, etc.) to support teacher and/or administrator.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Assist with daily living skills (toileting, changing diapers, feeding, personal hygiene, etc.) to demonstrate skills and/or provide needed care.
  • Ensure physical presence at the worksite, collaborating in person with team members, staff, students, and guardians, and accessing on‑site equipment and resources.
Other Functions
  • Assist other personnel as needed for the completion of work activities.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Skills: Ability to perform single, technical tasks and upgrade skills as needed; adherence to safety practices.
  • Knowledge: Basic math (fractions, percents, ratios); understanding written procedures; writing routine documents; understanding multi‑step written and oral instructions; safety practices and procedures; health standards and hazards.
  • Abilities: Adapt to changing priorities; display tact and courtesy; meet deadlines and schedules; set priorities; pay attention to detail; work with detailed information and data.
Basic

Physical Requirements
  • Maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, bending, standing, and sitting in student‑size chairs) for extended periods.
  • Safely manage physically or verbally aggressive students.
  • Participate with students in physical activities (walking, stretching, aerobic exercise).
  • Lift up to 60 lbs. to a height of 36 inches occasionally; 25 lbs. to a height of 36 inches frequently.
  • Sanitize and clean equipment (work boxes, exercise equipment, walkers, wheelchairs, etc.).
  • Remain calm and follow safety procedures in emergencies.
  • Walk with students to bus stops in inclement weather.
  • Willing to participate in and utilize MANDT training.
  • May work with bio‑hazards (blood‑borne pathogens, human waste, cleaning/disinfecting materials, etc.).
