Under the direction of the school principal, the teacher is responsible for the education of assigned students and will create a flexible program and classroom environment favorable for learning and personal growth. The teacher will establish effective rapport with students, motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed for further education, and maintain professional relationships with staff and parents.

• Teach subject matter using the Board of Education course of study and related learning activities.
• Develop and adapt lesson plans to meet individual student needs, utilizing effective teaching techniques.
• Use computers and technological classroom equipment to support instruction.
• Maintain classroom organization, discipline, and standards of behavior.
• Provide a safe and supervised environment in the classroom and school grounds.
• Measure student progress, evaluate academic and personal growth, and prepare progress reports.
• Communicate with parents via conferences and other means regarding academic progress.
• Collaborate with professional staff on academic and personal growth areas.
• Demonstrate professional ethics as outlined by the Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission.
• Adhere to district policies including attendance and evaluations.
• Participate in faculty/department meetings, PLCs, committees, student activities, and professional development.
• Maintain professional competence through in-service education and self-selected growth activities.
• Perform other duties assigned by the principal/administrator and support school and district initiatives.
• Maintain confidential student information in accordance with FERPA and district policy.
• Attend regularly; physical presence at the worksite is essential.

• Assist other personnel with their work as required.

• Spend about 50% of time stationary.
• Move inside and outside the school to access files, students, and machinery.
• Operate computers and office equipment constantly.
• Ascend/descend ladders or stairs occasionally.
• Communicate information clearly.
• Observe details at close and far range.
• Move items up to 20 pounds; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds for certain subjects.
• Work in outdoor weather conditions.

• Knowledge of State Core Curriculum and Board of Education adopted guides.
• Valid Utah Teaching/Educator License and relevant endorsement(s).
• Cleared criminal background check approved by Utah State Board of Education.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
