Job DescriptionA 3rd Grade Spanish Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Teacher position has been declared open in Weber School District. The role is 8.00 hours per day, 182 days per year, compensated per the Educator Salary Schedule and eligible for benefits. The incumbent may move sites year to year based on student needs. Funding is through a grant, so the position is available on a year‑to‑year basis contingent upon continued funding and enrollment.

Eligibility and Licensing- Speak Spanish fluently and pass an oral proficiency test at the Advanced‑Mid Level (official OPI from ACTFL‑OPI or OPIc).
- Proficient in English; if your degree is from another country, pass an English OPI at Advanced‑Mid to obtain a Utah license.
- Have a current Utah teaching license, a current out‑of‑state teaching license, or already be approved for an Associate License through the Utah State Board of Education.
- Be willing to obtain a World Language Endorsement in Spanish within three years (associate endorsement).
- Be willing to obtain a Dual Immersion Endorsement within three years (associate endorsement).
- Teach subject matter using the Board of Education’s course of study, correlating with appropriate learning activities.
- Develop, adapt, and implement lesson plans that meet individual student needs and maximize instructional time.
- Utilize computers and technology to support student instruction.
- Manage district property, request repairs, and maintain classroom organization and discipline.
- Establish standards of behavior to foster a functional learning environment.
- Provide a safe, supervised environment in the classroom and on school grounds.
- Use accurate assessment techniques to measure student progress and prepare progress reports.
- Communicate with parents through conferences and other means about academic and personal progress; interpret school programs.
- Cooperate with other professional staff in areas of academic and personal growth.
- Demonstrate professional ethics as outlined by the Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission.
- Conform to district policies including attendance, absences, and evaluations.
- Maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, district personnel, and patrons.
- Participate in faculty/department meetings, PLCs, committees, student activities, and professional development as required.
- Maintain professional competence through in‑service education and self‑selected professional growth activities.
- Adhere to laws, district policies, and procedures.
- Perform duties assigned by the principal/administrator and support school and district initiatives.
- Complete the annual crucial policy review and maintain confidential student records per FERPA.
- Attendance is an Essential Function of this Position. Physical presence at the worksite is required for in‑person collaboration and direct interaction with team members, students, and guardians.
- Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
- Remain stationary 50% of the time.
- Move about inside and outside the school to access files, students, and equipment.
- Operate a computer and other office machinery continuously.
- Ascend/descend ladders or stairs as needed.
- Position oneself to maintain files and objects as necessary.
- Communicate information accurately to others.
- Observe details at close and far ranges.
- Frequently move items weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Work in outdoor weather conditions.
- Teachers in SpEd, P.E., CTE, Theatre, and/or Art may be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Knowledge of State Core Curriculum and Board of Education adopted guides.
- Valid Utah Teaching/Educator License and relevant endorsement(s).
- Reduced criminal background check approved by the Utah State Board of Education.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
