LOCATION
This is a hybrid role located in Pleasanton, CA.
SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant will support the accounting activities of the company and contribute to the overall advancement of the financial process of the organization.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee month and year-end close procedures:
- Ensuring accurate and timely bank reconciliations
- Preparing journal entries, including accruals (bonus, commission, other liability, etc.), prepaids,
fixed assets and depreciation & amortization, - Reconciling and maintaining accurate balance sheet accounts, researching, and analyzing account variances as needed
- Oversee commission calculation, accruals, and payouts calculations
- Assist in preparing monthly balance sheet and income statement flux variance analyses for management reporting
- Prepare business tax and license, property tax
- Assist with financial and tax audit, tax provision, and internal control documentation
- Investigate reconciling items and discrepancies; contact the appropriate people to gather information to propose and implement solutions and develop procedures to prevent recurrence
- Identify and execute process improvements across Corporate Accounting tasks
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Perform and complete ad hoc accounting projects as needed
- Maintain Sarbanes Oxley documentation
- Perform ad-hoc analysis at the request of various levels of management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration
- 5+ years of accounting experience with staff accountant responsibilities in industry and/or public accounting firm
- Demonstrated strong working knowledge of US GAAP
- Experience with automated accounting software
- Experience and knowledge of Excel functions
- Strong organizational skills and attention-to-detail
- Experience with commission calculation and accrual
- Strong Customer service skills, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others both inside and outside the organization
- Ability to work in high pressure environment with tight deadlines
- Proficient and accurate with word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel), charting, flow charting and graphs. Competency with web-based applications including Dropbox, Google Apps. Familiarity with Net Suite ERP system a plus.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
- Ability to solve and interpret problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusion
- Ability to conduct research projects in specific areas of accounting and respond to inquiries
- Work on moderately complex to complex and diverse projects. Exercises good judgment in selecting methods for obtaining solutions.
