Revenue Accountant

Location: Onsite – Pleasanton, California

Overview

The Revenue Accountant is responsible for managing the organization’s accounts receivable and revenue accounting functions, ensuring the accurate and timely recording of revenue transactions. This role oversees customer billing, cash application, account reconciliations, collections, and revenue-related reporting while ensuring compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and contractual terms. The Revenue Accountant works closely with Sales, Customer Success, Finance, and customers to resolve billing issues, support month-end close activities, and maintain the integrity of financial records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate and distribute customer invoices in accordance with customer contracts and company billing schedules.
  • Process and apply customer payments received via ACH, wire transfer, credit card, and check.
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging and proactively follow up with customers regarding outstanding balances.
  • Research and resolve payment discrepancies, short payments, unapplied cash, billing disputes, and customer account issues.
  • Prepare and process credit memos, adjustments, and refunds in accordance with company policies.
  • Reconcile accounts receivable subledger to the general ledger and investigate variances.
  • Assist with revenue recognition activities and ensure revenue is recorded in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
  • Prepare monthly accounts receivable and revenue reports, including aging, collections, and cash receipts.
  • Maintain accurate customer account records and supporting documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Partner with Sales, Customer Success, and other internal departments to resolve billing and contract-related issues.
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding invoices, payments, account balances, and billing questions.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing revenue and accounts receivable documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve billing, collections, and revenue accounting processes while maintaining strong internal controls.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in accounts receivable, revenue accounting, or general accounting.
  • Proficiency in Net Suite ERP, including customer billing, cash application, account reconciliations, and revenue reporting.
  • Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles and general accounting practices.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation
  • Full-Time, Exempt
  • $80,000-$100,000/year, DOE
