Accurate Firestop, Inc. is seeking an experienced Construction Accounting & Payroll Specialist to join our accounting team.

This full-time position will work closely with our Controller and support the day-to-day accounting and payroll functions of our construction company. We’re looking for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and experienced with the unique payroll and accounting requirements of the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Process weekly union payroll and review employee timecards, pay rates, classifications, job assignments, and union requirements
Prepare and submit certified payroll for prevailing wage and public works projects
Assist with union reporting, fringe benefit reporting, and payroll compliance documentation
Maintain payroll records and resolve payroll discrepancies
Prepare customer invoices and construction-related billings
Maintain accounts receivable, apply customer payments, monitor outstanding balances, and assist with collections
Review and process vendor invoices, including job numbers, cost codes, approvals, and supporting documentation
Maintain accounts payable records and assist with vendor payments and reconciliations
Enter and maintain accurate accounting information within FOUNDATION
Assist the Controller with reconciliations, audits, insurance requests, payroll reviews, reporting, and other accounting needs
Coordinate with project managers, field personnel, vendors, and customers regarding accounting matters

Qualifications:

5+ years of accounting and/or payroll experience, preferably in construction
Strong experience with union payroll
Experience with certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements highly preferred
Hands-on Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable experience
Familiarity with construction job costing, job numbers, and cost codes
Experience with FOUNDATION construction accounting software preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and general office applications
Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple deadlines
Ability to independently research and resolve discrepancies
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality of payroll, employee, and financial information

Preferred Experience:

Previous experience working for a union construction contractor
Knowledge of California prevailing wage and certified payroll requirements
