Job Overview

Senior Construction Manager responsible for leading the planning, coordination, execution and financial control of multiple complex healthcare construction projects at Stanford Health Care in Pleasanton, CA and other Bay Area sites. This role focuses on ensuring safe, on‑schedule, on‑budget delivery while maintaining compliance with mandatory regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead day‑to‑day construction execution across multiple projects from planning through closeout.
  • Collaborate with SHC Facilities Planning and Design, Facilities Engineering, Activations and Business Operations.
  • Drive safety program coordination including ICRA, PCRA, and ILSM in partnership with Environmental Health & Safety.
  • Identify and resolve field issues quickly to maintain schedule and minimize operational disruption.
  • Track and communicate project performance using tools such as PMWeb, Bluebeam, and Plan Grid.
  • Provide clear, concise updates to leadership on scope, schedule, risks, and budget.
  • Own day‑to‑day project execution, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
  • Coordinate consultants, contractors, and internal partners to keep projects moving forward.
  • Balance competing priorities while maintaining safety, compliance, and quality standards.
  • Implement quality control measures, preparing organized and accurate project documentation for reporting.
Qualifications
  • 8‑10+ years of construction/project management experience in healthcare or other regulated environments, preferred.
  • Experience delivering projects in the $50‑$100M+ range.
  • Experience working in or around OSHPD/HCAI projects strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of PMWeb, Bluebeam, Plan Grid, MS PowerPoint and MS Office.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • A proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset with a strong focus on safety and execution.
Education
  • Required:

    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field preferred).
  • Relevant experience in lieu of degree may be considered and is in addition to experience requirements.
Experience
  • Five to seven years of progressively responsible and directly related experience supporting construction projects, preferably in healthcare or other complex, occupied environments.
Required Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of construction means, methods and sequencing in healthcare environments and the required regulations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in site logistics, infection control and field safety protocols specific to California healthcare construction.
  • Proven ability to independently resolve complex technical and regulatory challenges in the field.
  • Strong proficiency with digital field tools and construction technology, such as mobile QA/QC applications, BIM for field use, drones and robotics.
  • Deep understanding of lean construction principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills and ability to make sound, timely decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to mentor and train field staff and junior construction managers.
  • Commitment to sustainability, innovation and adoption of emerging practices.
  • High degree of initiative, accountability and professional integrity.
  • Technologically adept and adaptable.
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Base

Pay Scale

Generally starting at $70.52 – $93.43 per hour. The salary for the selected candidate will be set based on internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
