The Senior Manager, Product Management – Human Identification (HID), is responsible for leading the global product management organization for the HID portfolio, including instruments, consumables, assays, software-enabled solutions, workflows, and future platform innovations supporting forensic and human identification applications.
Reporting directly to the Director of Product Management, this role leads a team of Product Managers responsible for portfolio strategy, commercialization, lifecycle management, customer engagement, and business performance across the HID business.
The successful candidate will serve as a key member of the product management leadership team, partnering closely with R&D, Commercial, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Quality, and executive leadership to translate customer and workflow insights into differentiated products, workflow solutions, and sustainable business growth.
This role requires a proven product management leader with strong strategic, commercial, financial, and people leadership capabilities who can build organizational capability while driving portfolio growth, innovation, and operational excellence. The position is expected to assume increasing organizational and business leadership responsibilities over time and serves as a critical component of the product management leadership pipeline.
A Day in the Life:
Product Strategy & Lifecycle Ownership
- Lead the global product management team responsible for the Human Identification portfolio.
- Own portfolio vision, strategy, roadmap, lifecycle management, and investment priorities across HID instruments, consumables, chemistries, assays, software, workflows, and platform solutions.
- Align portfolio strategy and roadmap priorities with division strategy, customer needs, market opportunities, and financial objectives.
- Define and prioritize portfolio investments while balancing customer value, technical feasibility, operational requirements, competitive differentiation, and business impact.
- Lead strategic trade-off discussions and portfolio prioritization decisions across assigned products, workflows, applications, software, assays, and platforms.
- Drive long-term portfolio planning, growth strategies, lifecycle sustainment, and end-of-life decisions.
- Develop business cases and investment recommendations to support innovation, market expansion, and long-term business growth.
Customer & Workflow Insight Translation
- Establish and champion a strong voice-of-customer culture across the product management organization.
- Translate unmet customer needs, workflow pain points, market trends, and competitive insights into differentiated product requirements and roadmap priorities.
- Build executive-level relationships with forensic laboratories, government agencies, key opinion leaders (KOLs), strategic partners, and customers.
- Ensure customer and workflow insights are integrated into portfolio planning, innovation prioritization, and business strategy decisions.
- Represent customer and market perspectives in leadership discussions and portfolio governance processes.
- Monitor market dynamics, competitive activity, technology trends, and regulatory developments impacting the human identification market.
Innovation & Workflow Enablement
- Partner with R&D leadership to shape customer-backed new product innovation (NPI), workflow automation initiatives, software and AI-enabled solutions, and adjacent market opportunities.
- Drive innovation prioritization and investment recommendations based on customer, market, technical, and financial insights.
- Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency, laboratory productivity, customer experience, and portfolio differentiation.
- Support development of future platform strategies and integrated workflow solutions that strengthen market leadership and customer value.
- Ensure product management resources effectively support innovation programs from concept through commercialization.
Commercial Alignment
- Lead portfolio positioning, market segmentation, pricing strategy, value proposition development, and commercialization planning.
- Partner with Commercial, Marketing, and Regional leadership teams to ensure launch readiness, customer adoption, and market success.
