The City of Pleasanton is excited to announce an opportunity for an enthusiastic, organized, and community-minded Seasonal Senior Recreation Leader for Front Desk/Office Support to join the Library and Recreation team. Under the direction of the Senior Center Recreation Coordinator, this position plays an important role in creating a welcoming, helpful experience for participants while supporting the daily operations of the Pleasanton Senior Center.
This hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with adults age 55+, providing excellent customer service, managing administrative responsibilities, and helping connect community members with programs, services, and resources. If you are dependable, detail-oriented, and passionate about public service, this is a great opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the daily experience of Senior Center participants.

A dependable and trustworthy employee who can accurately process registrations, payments, Fee Assistance transactions, and daily cash-handling and reconciliation procedures.
A customer service-oriented representative of the City who can communicate tactfully and professionally, including during sensitive or complicated participant interactions.
A self-directed problem solver who can work independently with minimal supervision, exercise sound judgment, and know when to seek assistance.
A collaborative coworker who enjoys supporting staff and volunteers, building effective working relationships, and contributing to a positive Senior Center experience.
An administrative professional who is comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, computerized registration systems, spreadsheets, and digital communication tools.
A flexible and adaptable recreation professional who can shift priorities in a busy front desk environment and cover additional shifts when operational needs arise.
A safety-conscious employee who understands the importance of emergency procedures, safety protocols, facility access, cash controls, waivers, and other established front desk processes.
- Open and close the front desk register and assigned facility, including daily cash handling and reconciliation using the Civic Rec registration system.
- Process program registrations, payments, and Fee Assistance transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Welcome walk-in participants, answer telephones, provide excellent customer service, and offer information and referral services.
- Maintain essential front desk systems and procedures, including cash controls, waivers, key access, transportation tickets, and related records.
- Create and maintain spreadsheets for class registrations, services, and performance measures.
- Assist with the supervision, support, and guidance of Senior Center volunteers.
- Update and maintain digital signage and other marketing materials.
- Respond to participant questions, concerns, and unexpected situations in a calm, professional, and service-focused manner.
- Assist with administrative projects and other duties as assigned.
- Support a welcoming, organized, safe, and inclusive environment for Senior Center participants, staff, volunteers, and visitors.
