Work Schedule:

Part-Time | 20–25 hours per week | Afternoons (approx. 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM)

Compensation:

$25–$30 per hour depending on experience

About La Escuelita

La Escuelita is a bilingual learning center dedicated to helping students build strong academic and language skills through engaging, project-based learning. Our programs support students in Spanish, English, reading, writing, and mathematics, while fostering confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning.

We are seeking a Learning Center Coordinator & Lead Tutor who will help oversee the daily operations of the center, provide high-quality tutoring, and support the continued growth of our academic programs.

This role is ideal for an educator or learning center professional who enjoys working directly with students while also helping programs grow and operate effectively.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director, the Learning Center Coordinator & Lead Tutor supports the daily operations of the learning center, provides academic tutoring to students, assists with student transportation from local schools, and supports enrollment growth through family communication and program outreach.

The coordinator plays a key role in ensuring that the learning center operates smoothly while maintaining a positive and engaging educational environment for students and families.

Supervision

This position works under the direction of the Center Director and may provide guidance and support to tutors and instructional staff during program hours.

Essential Responsibilities

Program Operations

  • Support the daily operations of the learning center
  • Ensure a safe, organized, and positive learning environment
  • Assist with preparing learning spaces and materials for daily programs
  • Support communication with families regarding student progress and program participation

Academic Instruction

  • Tutor students in English, Spanish, reading, writing, and mathematics (K–12)
  • Support students enrolled in Spanish language courses (Spanish I–V)
  • Provide individualized academic support and monitor student progress

Student Transportation

  • Assist with picking up students from local schools and ensuring their safe arrival at the learning center

Enrollment & Program Growth

  • Conduct tours for prospective families
  • Follow up with program inquiries and support the enrollment process
  • Contribute to enrollment growth with a goal of 2–4 new student registrations per month
Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Experience working in a learning center, tutoring center, school, or after-school program
  • Previous experience in a lead tutor, coordinator, or assistant role is highly desirable
  • Associate's degree in education, child development, Spanish, or a related field preferred but not required

Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to tutor multiple subjects across K–12 grade levels
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and staff
  • Strong customer service and relationship‑building skills

Additional Requirements

  • Spanish fluency strongly preferred
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for student pick‑ups
  • Ability to work afternoon hours during the school week

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to move throughout the learning center, supervise students, and assist with classroom activities. Duties may include standing, walking, bending, and occasionally lifting instructional materials or supplies.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in a learning center environment serving school‑age children and adolescents. The environment may include moderate noise levels and active classroom settings during tutoring sessions.
