The Middle School Director leads the middle school ministry of Blue Oaks Students under the direction of the Director of Student Ministries.

This role exists to help middle school students know Jesus, grow lasting faith, and live out their calling in community. The Middle School Director provides primary leadership for weekly middle school ministry, student discipleship, leader development, parent partnership, teaching support, events, and ministry systems.

The Director of Student Ministries will continue to provide overall vision, coaching, alignment, and leadership for Blue Oaks Students while remaining directly involved in High School ministry.

1. Lead Weekly Middle School Ministry

• Oversee Wednesday night and Sunday morning middle school ministry
• Create welcoming, safe, fun, and spiritually meaningful environments
• Lead weekly ministry flow, including games, teaching, small groups, transitions, and leader engagement
• Prepare weekly ministry needs, including supplies, leader resources, discussion questions, and communication
• Evaluate and improve weekly rhythms with the Director of Student Ministries

2. Shepherd and Disciple Students

• Build intentional relationships with middle school students
• Follow up with new, inconsistent, disconnected, or spiritually curious students
• Help students take next steps in faith, small groups, baptism, serving, camps, and student leadership
• Provide basic pastoral care and communicate deeper care needs to the Director of Student Ministries
• Attend occasional student activities, games, performances, or important moments as appropriate
• Help students feel known, loved, and connected in community

3. Recruit, Train, and Care for Leaders

• Recruit, train, encourage, and support middle school small group leaders and volunteers
• Develop healthy leader rhythms, expectations, and communication
• Provide leaders with resources, discussion questions, and follow-up support
• Coach leaders in relational discipleship, small group leadership, and student care
• Build a leader culture marked by consistency, prayer, encouragement, and care

4. Teach and Support Discipleship Direction

• Teach middle school students regularly as assigned
• Help shape teaching content in alignment with the broader student ministry direction
• Adapt teaching content for middle school students
• Prepare or support small group questions
• Help students understand Scripture in clear, practical, and age-appropriate ways

5. Partner With Parents and Families

• Communicate clearly with parents about ministry rhythms, events, and next steps
• Follow up with parents of new, disconnected, or care‑needing students
• Encourage parents in the discipleship of their students
• Communicate care concerns to the Director of Student Ministries

6. Lead Events and Ministry Systems

• Plan and execute middle school events throughout the ministry year
• Support camp and retreat planning, promotion, leader preparation, and student follow‑up
• Maintain the middle school ministry calendar
• Track attendance, follow‑up needs, and student connection points
• Assist with Planning Center, registration, supplies, and event details
• Help steward the middle school ministry budget in collaboration with the Director of Student Ministries
• Participate in staff meetings, planning meetings, and ministry evaluation rhythms
