Title:
Sr. Staff Hardware Electronics Engineer
Location:
Pleasanton, California
Base Salary: $136K-185K depending on experience
Our Sr. Staff Engineer plays a critical role in shaping the future of life science research by leading the design, debugging, and support of custom electronic systems used in advanced research platforms. You'll drive the development of hardware products that directly impact healthcare innovation and improve lives worldwide.
You’ll collaborate cross-functionally to define system architecture, ensure design quality, and support the transfer of products to manufacturing, contributing to product reliability and cost-effectiveness. Your expertise in electrical engineering will guide testing strategies, root-cause analysis, and risk mitigation, setting the bar for engineering excellence.

What You’ll Do- Design, debug and support of custom electronics solutions used in our life science research platforms.
- Support transfer to mfg of designs currently transitioning to production.
- Able and willing to travel to vendors and our satellite locations (domestic) ~10-15% of the time. Occasional international travel may also be necessary.
- Spearhead the development of hardware products that advance healthcare research and treatments, leading to better outcomes and quality of life for millions
- Set the standard for quality by generating testing strategies, performing root-cause failure analysis, and developing design risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
- Apply your technical knowledge of electrical engineering principles to develop cost-effective, reliable, and high-quality systems that satisfy customer needs and business requirements.
- Participate in the product concepting and creation process, collaborating cross-functionally to develop system requirements and architecture definitions, system-level and reliability test plans, and traceability of testing to requirements.
- Education/
Work Experience:
Must have a BSEE plus 10+ years of relevant experience. - Familiar with the following communications protocols: CAN, I2C, RS485, USB. Experience designing microcontroller based solutions.
- Knowledgeable in the applicable Safety and EMC requirements of our products (EN61010, EN61326) is required.
- Proficient in CAD (Altium), and MSOffice tools.
- Opto-electronics (APDs, Lasers/Laser Diodes) and high impedance amplifier design experience a plus.
