Location:
Pleasanton, CA (East Bay)
Salary: $90K - $140K (DOE)
Overview:
An established engineering firm in the East Bay is seeking an experienced Mechanical/Plumbing Designer to support a variety of commercial and institutional building projects.
This role is a strong fit for candidates with backgrounds in engineering consulting, construction, or building systems design who enjoy working across both design and project execution. You will play a key role in delivering practical, real-world engineering solutions while collaborating closely with clients, architects, and construction teams.
Responsibilities- Design and coordinate mechanical systems for building projects, including HVAC, plumbing, and related infrastructure
- Develop construction documents, drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD, Revit, and similar tools
- Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, and internal teams to translate project requirements into effective design solutions
- Participate in site visits, field observations, and coordination with construction teams to support project execution
- Support projects from conceptual design through construction, including troubleshooting and resolving field issues
- Contribute to project schedules, budgets, and deliverables to ensure successful and timely completion
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders
- Support and mentor junior staff as needed
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, building systems, construction engineering, or consulting environments
- Experience supporting commercial, institutional, or large-scale building projects (office, healthcare, education, mixed-use, etc.)
- Background working with architects, contractors, or construction teams on active projects
- Understanding of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, or building mechanical infrastructure
- Familiarity with California building codes; experience with Title 24 is preferred
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit; additional design tools are a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a collaborative, project-based environment
