Job Description
Job Summary
The Drafter/Designer is responsible for creating designs and detailed drawings for a variety of projects. Additionally, the Drafter/Designer is responsible for preparing the drawing sets which may include gas, electric, phone, and cable television infrastructure for utility companies.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

- Assist with preparing joint trench plan sets including gas, electric, phone & cable submittals for utility companies;
- Insert new civil base files into job files;
- Follow company AutoCAD/Civil 3D/Revit standards;
- Respond to drawing related questions from Project Managers;
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to understand the design intent and meet the client needs;
- Save files correctly using Vizion file maintenance;
- On a daily basis, communicate to the project management staff on the completion of assignments;
- Utilize Google Calendar for daily assignments;
- Manage time to meet deadlines while working on multiple projects; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Proficiency in CADD using the latest version of AutoCAD 2D and 3D programs with a strong knowledge of civil site development and constructive layout, grading and underground infrastructure
- Ability to effectively manage time to meet deadlines while working on multiple projects
- Ability to read and understand mechanical, architectural, and civil drawings
- Knowledge of MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Excellent attention to detail and impeccable work ethic
- Intermediate math skills including geometry
- High customer service ethic
- Ability to understand quickly follow instructions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Works well both independently and in a team, and accepts the most exacting feedback and challenges
Education and Experience
- At least 3+ years of experience as a drafter/designer for a mechanical engineering, architectural design firm, civil design firm or equivalent firm.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution, or relevant experience with gas and electrical design is a plus.
- Previous construction drafting experience combined with the ability to read and understand architectural plans and civil designs is a plus.
